The Last Lecture

For anyone who is looking for a good book to read, I HIGHLY recommend a book called The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch. It's written by Randy who has cancer and only has a few more months to live. He gives what is called a "Last Lecture" (which is about 1 hour long...you can youtube it and watch it) and it is basically advice. It's about achieving your childhood dreams and about helping others to achieve theirs as well. It's inspirational and motivating.

I absolutely love quotes. And this book was FILLED with great ones. Thought I would share some of my fav's....

• Just because you're in the driver's seat, doesn't mean you have to run people over.
• The brick walls are there for a reason. They're not there to keep us out. The brick walls are there to give us a chance to show how badly we want something.
• We can't change the cards we are dealt....just how we play the hand.
• If you wait long enough, people will surprise and impress you.
• It's not how hard you hit. It's how hard you get hit...and keep moving forward.
• Experience is what you get when you didn't get what you wanted.
• When it comes to men who are romantically interested in you, it's really simple. Just ignore everything they say and only pay attention to what they do.
• It's not about how to achieve your dreams. It's about hwo to lead your life. It you lead your life the right way, the karma will take care of itself. The dreams will come to you.

He gives examples of how he has fulfilled every childhood dream of his and has lived life to the fullest. That got me thinking...what were my childhood dreams? Well, I wanted to be a teacher....check. I wanted to be a famous singer...working on that. I wanted to get married and have a family...hopefully that will come...sooner rather than later :) I also once upon a time wanted to live on a farm. I have since changed that dream. Maybe just a dog or a cat would be nice :) Anyways. The Last Lecture. Good Book. Have I said that yet? :) Read it! Or at least watch the lecture online.
