Nauvoo Trip (Part 1)

In July, Tyler, Ty's little brother Alex, and Ty's best friend Ben volunteered to play their bagpipes in the Nauvoo Pageant.

We stayed at the Daugherty Mansion in Keokuk. It looked like a haunted mansion, it was really neat!
We spent a few late nights in the library looking through all of the old books they had.

The boys kept really busy with the bagpipes we were there. During the day, they would go perform at parades and skits around Nauvoo.

One of my favorite gigs the bagpipe band did was when they went to a nursing home. We went and ate lunch with the people there, sat and talked with them for awhile, then the band played a few songs. There was a guy there that reminded Tyler and I of his grandpa Clive. He had the same witty sense of humor and when we were getting ready to leave, he kept holding onto my hand....just like Clive used to do. It was a neat experience being there...you could tell all of the residents love having us there and loved listening to the bagpipes.

Every evening, the boys played in the Nauvoo Pageant. The Pageant is AMAZING! I was never sitting close enough to get very good pictures...but they did fantastic! I love that the temple is right behind the stage..so pretty!
