Since I have the summer off and Tyler works, he encouraged me to do something fun...so I decided to take a Wilton's cake class at Hobby Lobby. I have LOVED LOVED LOVED it!!!
The first week we learned some cake baking secrets and learned to use the star tip and decorated cookies. (I forgot to take pictures...oops!)
The next week we brought a cake, filled it, frosted it, and decorated it!
The next week we learned how to do more decorations with the frosting tips and decorated cupcakes.
For our last class we had to come up with our own theme/design for our own cake. So since the class fell on 4th of July weekend....I made a 4th of July cake!! I had extra batter so I made 4th of July cupcakes as well.
I LOVE my new hobby! Next I want to learn to do fondant (you can do such cool stuff with fondant!) and try some different flavors of cake and frosting...instead of just sticking with the cake mix boxes :) And I also now watch Cake Boss religiously and have started watching Ace of Cakes and Cupcakes Wars as well. Yes, I have become a little obsessed :) We'll see how long this obsession lasts :)
