Pregnancy was an amazing experience. When I took my first pregnancy test and it was positive I was too scared to believe it...I was scared the pregnancy test was wrong! So I took 2 more tests...and then I decided I could start getting excited :)
I had my first appointment at 10 weeks. Oh boy was I nervous. I was so afraid that maybe there wasn't a baby in there after all or that maybe there was but it wasn't doing well. Turns out there really was a baby! We saw him kick and stick his little hand up. And when Doctor Langer told us that everything looked great and the heartbeat was strong I cried (tears of joy, of course).
At 18 weeks we were able to go in for an ultrasound to find out the gender. We didn't care either way...we just wanted a healthy happy baby. We were so excited to find out we were having a baby boy!
We had another ultrasound at 20 weeks to check all if the major organs and make sure everything was growing right. During the ultrasound we saw him playing with his little feet...so cute!
I 1st grade half time this year which was so nice. It was wonderful to be able to come home and take a nap after work. It was my least stressful year which was a blessing...it gave me time to work on our house and get things ready for the baby. My 1st graders were so excited about me having a baby. Some of my girls would always pat my belly and say "hi baby!" These are some of my favorite pregnancy quotes from my kids:
•(About 2 hours after announcing I was pregnant) "I had no idea you were having a baby. That was a surprise! I thought your stomach was getting smaller, not bigger!"
•When I was letting my class inside one morning one of my students asked "Mrs Abeyta, did you have your baby yet?"
•"Do we get to take a field trip to the hospital when you have your baby?"
•"Is that baby EVER going to come out?"
•"Mrs. Abeyta, your stomach is a sphere!" (They had been learning shapes in math)
I loved feeling those little flutters, kicks and hiccups. I could tell before Miles was born that he would be a strong boy. He had very powerful kicks (some right on my ribs...ouch! In my 3rd trimester I'd often feel pressure on one side of my stomach and would look down to find that my belly looked lopsided :) (now that he's born I realized that this was him stretching and sticking his bum out). I still can't believe Tyler and I made something so wonderful and perfect...such a blessing! It was amazing being able to witness a miracle happen!
