Mountain Men!

For those who know Tyler, you know that he's a very manly man. He loves learning about historic wars. Mainly World War 2 (probably because his grandpa served in that war and has the COOLEST war stories). He loves the outdoors and being prepared for survival situations. His friend Darren loves the same things and invited us to go to a Mountain Man Retreat with him in Wyoming.

It turned out to be a lot of fun!! Tyler and I slept in a tent and his friend brought his trailer..which was nice being able to eat dinner and hang out in. Tyler and Darren played their pipes for a few hours at the festival and earned back some of our travel money :)

At the festival, there are a bunch of shops set up (in tents) full of knives, knife sheaths, survival fire kits, Indian clothing and beads, etc. It was fun walking around and feeling like we were living back in the day. One evening Ty started our fire using only rope, char cloth, and a piece of flint with a striking tool. No matches...no gasoline...it looked pretty tough to do, but he did great!! And it made for a nice spot to cook our dinner!

Ty is so great with survival stuff. If something happened and we had to survive in the mountains, we would be just fine, thanks to him!

I definitely agree! Tyler would be able to survive ANYWHERE with practically nothing! The pic of him by the fire is classic(looks like he's about to run out in the wild & kill a deer then skin it!)! Thanx for sharing these, Jackie! Glad you guys had a great time at the mountain men gathering!

It's good that you could survive in the wilderness. I on the other hand can survive quite nicely in a hotel.
